For the past 30 years, Alexandra Champalimaud, President and Principal Designer of Champalimaud Design has won an international reputation for superb and elegant design, with projects in destinations as far-flung as Quebec City, Beijing, London, and New York City. Of particular note is her flair for historic hotel renovation, as evidenced by her work at The Chateau Frontenac, The Dorchester, and The Hotel Bel Air. In conversation with Hospitality Design editor in chief Michael Adams, Champalimaud will discuss the highlights of her estimable career, the secrets to successful luxury restoration, and the challenges of a current project, the renovation of the classic hotel, New York’s The Waldorf=Astoria.
